Packing Tricks, Flight Wins and Real Talk

Hey friends,

I hope you’re well - it’s been about a month, so here’s what’s new!

🧳 Introducing the Jenga Packing Method

My latest video dives into the Jenga Packing Method - I had fun coming up with this one, so I hope you’re able to pick up a helpful trick or two from it.

A couple of my favorite tips:

  • When using packing cubes, line up your clothes with the width of the cube and fold to size.
  • Use ChatGPT to build a capsule wardrobe! It helped me come up with 9 pieces that turned into 14 outfits with minimal repeats.
    👉 Take a look here.

😎 Bonus tips not mentioned in my video:

  • Lay your packing cubes inside of your suitcase first to get an idea of how they'll fit, and then fill them
  • To pack necklaces tangle-free, lay them out on a a layer of press 'n' seal plastic wrap, - then press down, seal and roll.

Shoes - I probably have to make a whole video about this because there are a lot of variables and things to consider.

There's no...one size fits all approach 😏

But here's one:

  • If you don't have room for a second pair of shoes, pack a separate pair of insoles. When your feet are tired & sore, swap your cushy insoles in and it's like a second pair. Superfeet is a good brand.

I’m working on more videos and guides for packing different types and lengths of trips.

🏨 Hotel Thoughts

The Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas just announced their ‘all-inclusive’ deal is coming back this summer.

We tried it out last year - was it worth it?

🏰 Lisbon Plans?

I'm always browsing hotel deals and the Rossio Plaza Hotel in Lisbon is showing some great prices at 30% off for some dates in June.

It's highly rated and in a great location: a 1-minute walk to my favorite patio, Carmo Rooftop!

✨ New Gear Find

I came across this interestingly shaped travel pillow - I haven’t tried it, but the reviews look good.

💸 Travel Saving Ideas

Got Europe or Japan on the horizon? Then heads up—currency swings might impact your trip more than usual this year. I’m not a financial expert, but here are a few money-smart things to consider:

  • Book and pay for hotel stays now (instead of waiting to pay upon check-in in the local currency)
  • Transfer funds into a multi-currency Wise account
  • And honestly... don’t pay full price for flights in 2025 😅

My favorite flight deals newsletter teaches you how to land heavily discounted travel without digging through sketchy sites. 👉 Check it out here.

In fact, we just booked our very first lie-flat seats (!!) for an upcoming trip (more to come on this later).

Since Chris is 6'9" (205 cm), he’s actually excited for an 8-hour flight for once 😂

💬 On a More Personal Note...

If you followed our Arizona road trip in March on Instagram or FB, you may have seen my post about the cyber-bullying I’ve experienced from fellow Canadians.

It’s been tough, and I wrestled with whether to publish a deeper piece about it.

But it’s out there if you want to read my thoughts about making travel decisions in this current climate.

By the way - it was a great trip! The red rocks in Sedona were breathtaking, I loved the quirky Route 66 towns and staying in the historic mining town of Jerome.

But the highlight was definitely the train to the Grand Canyon!

Vlog coming soon 🌵
